Broadcast live on ABC national TV, Ngarukuruwala was a hit at the footy!

The group performed together again on March 22nd, at the Tiwi AFL Grand Final. Hundreds of people go across for the game and Art Show and - for the first time this year - some cool pre-game entertainment! The game was broadcast live on ABC TV and (with a half-hour's notice) so were we.  The plan had been to pre-record us performing, to be aired at half-time, but due to a fair amount of chaos and problems finding power leads that reached to the points, drums that had skins, mics that worked etc we ended up playing live straight to air with about five minutes' rehearsal! We played a traditional Tiwi hunting canoe song, (hunting for turtle is often what people do after football games) and then the National Anthem. At quarter-time we played the women's own Tiwi version of a well known footy song "Up There For Tiwi". All in all a fun (and very hot) day.
